Here’s what you need to know:
- All India Quota (AIQ) Seats: 15% of seats in government medical and dental colleges are reserved under the AIQ. Your NEET rank will determine your eligibility for these seats.
- State Quota Seats: 85% of seats are reserved for state quotas, where your domicile state plays a crucial role. Each state has its own counselling process and criteria.
- Deemed and Central Universities: These institutions have their own set of rules, and your NEET score is pivotal for admissions.

NEET Marks and Ranks 2024–Why should I choose NEET:
It is a comparison between NEET UG 2024 marks and ranks, and it references the corresponding ranks from NEET UG 2023 for the same marks.
2024 Marks vs Ranks: The table lists the marks obtained in NEET UG 2024 alongside their respective ranks, ranging from 715 marks with a rank of 89 to 142 marks with a rank of 12,00,000.
2023 Rank References: For certain marks, the references are the approximate ranks from NEET UG 2023, indicating how ranks have shifted over a year.
For example, 715 marks had a rank of around 10 in 2023, while in 2024, it corresponds to ranks between 89 and 1051.
Rank Shifts: There is a noticeable shift in ranks for the same marks between the two years. Higher marks in 2024 generally correspond to higher ranks compared to 2023, suggesting increased competition, lesser difficulty level, enabling more candidates to score high marks in 2024.
Why Consider NEET UG Ranks and not marks:
Your current rank is all that matters, not your marks or shifts in ranks compared to last year. If your 2024 rank is 15,001, it means there are 15,000 candidates above you.
They will allot you a seat based on eligibility only after these 15,000 candidates get their seats.
Therefore, use the 2023 rank of 15,001 as your reference point, as that candidate had 15,000 competitors above them as well. For All India Counselling, use All India Ranks as a reference, not your marks.
