Physics Wallah CEO Challenges NTA’s Grant of Grace Marks in NEET UG 2024

Physics Wallah CEO Challenges NTA’s Decision on Grace Marks in NEET UG 2024:

The CEO of Physics Wallah, an educational technology company, Alakh Pandey, has taken a big step ahead by filing a case in the Supreme Court against the National Testing Agency (NTA) about the awarding of grace marks to candidates who attended the NEET UG exam in 2024.

Legal Action:

Advocate J. Sai Deepak highlighted the writ petition, filed on June 9, to the Supreme Court’s vacation bench, urging for an urgent listing. Justice Vikram Nath, leading the bench, instructed the lawyer to present the case before the Registry for proper listing through the Chief Justice of India.

Allegations of Arbitrary Grant of Grace Marks in NEET UG 2024:

Pandey’s appeal raises serious questions about the arbitrary nature of the NTA’s decision to award grace marks.

According to his lawyer, testimonies from nearly 20,000 students suggest that around 70 to 80 marks were randomly granted as grace marks to at least 1,500 students.

This raises questions about the fairness and transparency of the evaluation process.

The petitioner argues that any normalization formula used should only extend to unanswered questions in proportion to the loss of time, considering that each question carries equal weight.

Calls for Review:

On June 8, amidst increasing concerns and claims of discrepancies in the evaluation process, the NTA and the Union Education Ministry formed a committee comprising four members to investigate the results of over 1,500 candidates who received “grace marks” to compensate for the “loss of time” they experienced during the NEET UG exam.

The Importance of Transparency:

The challenges presented by Alakh Pandey and the other petitioners show how crucial it is to ensure fairness and integrity in competitive exams such as NEET.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the focus remains on upholding the integrity of the examination process and addressing the concerns of all stakeholders. For regular updates join ZyNerd’s WhatsApp community.
