Parents Demand Central Intervention Over NEET 2024 Result Controversy

Parents have filed a complaint with district higher officials, calling the NEET 2024 results a major scam. They are demanding relief for affected students and asking the central government to intervene. The parents cite allegations of question paper leaks, unusual scoring patterns, and last-minute implementation of grace marks for lost time. They have raised concerns about the fairness and credibility of the NEET-UG 2024 results.

Allegations and Concerns:

The parents are particularly worried about the timing of the result release. They questioned why the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2024 results on May 4, a full 10 days earlier than the scheduled date of June 14. The NTA clarified that they awarded grace marks to candidates to address the loss of time faced during the exam. Despite these assurances, doubts about the fairness of the results persist.

This year’s NEET results surprised many, with 67 candidates securing All India Rank 1 by scoring a perfect 720 out of 720. This unusual outcome created controversy and uproar on social media. Six students who received full marks have seat numbers in the same sequence and are all from Haryana, suggesting they may be from the same examination center. Additionally, scorecards showing students scoring 718 and 719 are circulating on social media, raising further doubts about the accuracy and fairness of the scoring.

Parents and Officials React:

Sharma, a resident of Jind district, expressed his concerns about the impact on his daughter. “This situation has harried thousands of students,” he said. The NTA should have given extra time to those who lost time during the exam instead of awarding grace marks, which has caused trouble for all students,” he said.

He added, “Awarding grace marks demoralizes students and parents. It violates the students’ right to equality, and authorities should address this issue to provide relief to affected students.”

Harish Vasisth, the additional deputy commissioner in Jind district, confirmed receiving the complaint. “The parents’ issues and doubts seem genuine, and we are taking up the matter by informing higher officials,” he told TOI.

The parents also raised concerns about the high cut-offs, fearing that many candidates aspiring to join government medical colleges might be discouraged. The NTA issued another clarification, informing that 1,563 candidates received compensation for the loss of time, with revised marks ranging from -20 to 720. Out of the 67 candidates who scored 720/720, 44 achieved this due to a revision in one Physics answer key, and six received compensatory marks for the loss of time.

This ongoing controversy continues to raise serious questions about the integrity and transparency of the NEET UG 2024 results. For more updates, follow ZyNerd.
