NEET UG 2024 paper leak case development:
In the latest NEET UG 2024 paper leak case development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched seven locations in Gujarat.
Officials informed PTI that the operation began in the morning and targeted the suspects’ locations across four districts: Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.
Arrests in Hazaribagh: School Officials and Journalist Detained
On Friday, the CBI arrested the principal and vice-principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, along with a journalist from a Hindi newspaper.
Ehsanul Haque, the principal, coordinated the medical entrance exam for the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Hazaribagh on May 5, 2024. Vice-Principal Imtiaz Alam was the NTA’s observer and the center coordinator for Oasis School.
Officers said that the CBI is also questioning five more individuals from the district in connection with the NEET UG paper leak. Journalist Jamaluddin Ansari was arrested for allegedly aiding the principal and vice-principal.

Ongoing Investigations and Legal Actions:
The CBI has registered 6 FIRs in the NEET UG paper leak case, including its own FIR based on a reference from the Union Education Ministry and five from various states. The agency is investigating cases in Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
The NEET UG 2024 exam faced significant controversy after reports of a paper leak emerged. Earlier, Patna police arrested 13 individuals, including four examinees and their family members, in connection with the leak.
The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police revealed that brokers charged from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh from each NEET UG candidate for providing the NEET UG 2024 question paper before the exam.
Petitioners have filed several pleas in the High Courts and the Supreme Court demanding a proper investigation and a retest for the NEET UG 2024 exam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to withdraw the grace marks awarded to 1563 candidates and offered an optional retest. Those who did not opt for the retest were allowed to retain their original marks, minus the grace marks. On June 22, 2024, the Central Government handed over the investigation to the CBI, aiming for transparency and complete scrutiny of the examination process.
