NTA Announces NEET UG 2024 Results with New Grace Marks Policy:
In response to concerns over exam time loss, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the NEET UG 2024 results along with a new grace mark policy. This update has led to various reactions and questions among the candidates.
NEET UG Grace Marks for Time Loss:
In response to legal actions from candidates who were late for the NEET UG 2024 exam, the NTA awarded grace marks. This decision came after affected candidates filed numerous legal petitions. The grace marks resulted in an unexpected outcome: 67 students achieved the highest rank (NEET All India Rank 1) with an identical percentile score (99.997129). NTA used the normalization procedure established by the Supreme Court in 2018 to address this issue.
NEET UG 2024 Results Announcement:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2024 results on their official website, exams.nta.ac.in, on June 4th. This is earlier than expected, as the results were originally predicted for June. The cut-off score for the general category has also increased this year, jumping from 137 in 2023 to 164 in 2024. The results are based on the final answer key, which was also released on June 4th.
Exam Attendance and Statistics of NEET UG 2024:
A total of 9,96,393 male candidates, 13,31,321 female candidates, and 17 transgender candidates appeared for the exam. The overall attendance was 96.94%, with male attendance at 96.92%, female attendance at 96.96%, and transgender attendance at 94.44%.
The NEET 2024 cutoff marks for each candidate category are provided on the scorecard.
NTA has yet to release the NEET 2024 merit list, which will include the list of toppers, cutoffs, and other statistics.
Clarifications and Controversies:
The NTA addressed the controversy surrounding the impossibly high scores of 718 and 719 (given the 716 maximum without grace marks) by clarifying that these scores resulted from awarding grace marks to compensate for lost exam time. Several candidates questioned the process’s transparency and fairness.
