NMC Confirms NEET UG 2024 Counselling Registration Date:
The National Medical Commission (NMC) Secretary, Dr. B. Srinivas, confirmed that the registration process for the NEET UG 2024 counselling will begin on August 14. This announcement provides relief and clarity to candidates eagerly awaiting the counselling schedule.
NEET UG Online Counselling Process:
The registration for NEET UG 2024 counselling will be conducted online. Dr. Srinivas mentioned that the registration process might start earlier than planned and will continue for 2 months.
Eligible students across the country can participate in the counselling process. The counselling will take place in 4 rounds.
NEET UG Counselling Guidelines and Eligibility:
The NEET UG 2024 counselling will follow the same guidelines as last year. Students must pass the NEET, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Dr Srinivas assured that the NMC will conduct counselling based on the data provided by the NTA.
Revised NEET UG 2024 Results:
On Friday, the revised NEET UG 2024 results were released, and 17 students got perfect scores. This marks a significant drop of 75% in the number of toppers compared to the earlier results.
Initially, the results announced on June 4 showed a record 67 candidates scoring a perfect 720 marks, tying for the top spot. Extra marks were awarded to 6 students due to time lost during the exam because of invigilator errors.
Additionally, 44 students received the top rank after being awarded “grace marks” for incorrectly answering a basic physics question.

Supreme Court Ruling About NEET UG Case:
The Supreme Court ruled that only one accurate answer would be accepted for the controversial physics question. Any other response would not receive marks.
Following this ruling, the NTA conducted a re-exam for students who lost time during the exam. After these corrections, the number of qualified candidates declined from 1,316,268 to 1,315,853.
