Supreme Court to Hear NEET Paper Leak Case:
The Supreme Court has taken up the case of the NEET UG 2024 paper leak. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeks to reschedule the exam because of suspected malpractices and a paper leak.
With this, the court refused to stay with the decision. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, stated that the court cannot postpone national exam results at this time.
The bench has scheduled a follow-up hearing after the July holidays.
Allegations and Arrests in Bihar:
NEET UG candidates have demanded a re-exam, claiming rumors of a paper leak. In Bihar, authorities arrested 13 people, including four candidates and their families, in connection with the leak.
Police sources revealed that around 20 candidates received the NEET UG question papers and answers the day before the exam on May 5, 2024.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police, currently investigating the issue, reported that brokers were charged between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 50 lakh for providing the leaked papers.
Calls for Investigation and Re-Examination:
A PIL filed in Patna High Court demands the cancellation of the exam. And requesting a CBI investigation into the paper leak. The petitioners claim that the leak violates Article 14 of the Indian Constitution, which provides equal opportunity.
The petitioners also mention a similar example from 2015, when the Supreme Court ordered a re-exam due to a huge paper leak.
The petition seeks numerous actions, including conducting a new NEET UG 2024 exam with better security measures. Requiring states to report on the status of paper leaks, and forming Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to investigate the incidents.
The Supreme Court’s decision after the summer break will be crucial for the future of NEET UG 2024 and its candidates.
