According to initial projections, about 20 candidates received the leaked question papers and answers one day before the exam. As a result, the number of candidates who had received the papers ahead of time increased to around 35. The accused operated by forming groups on messaging apps and approaching candidates and their parents. The method resembled a similar paper leak case involving the Bihar Public Service Commission.

One of the major suspects, Amit Anand, reportedly owns an education consulting organization that offers help with competitive exams. He worked with broker Sikander Yadavendu, who had been arrested before the exam.
