Is NEET UG 2024 Counselling Started?
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is likely to start the NEET UG 2024 counselling on August 14. This follows the Supreme Court’s dismissal of petitions seeking a Re-NEET UG 2024 exam due to paper leak allegations.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra dismissed these petitions on July 23, 2024.
NEET UG Counselling Important Dates and Deadlines:
The verification of the tentative seat matrix for Round 1 by the participating institutes and the NMC is scheduled for August 14 to 16, 2024. Registration and payment for Round 1 will be open for eight days, from August 14 to 21, 2024, until 12:00 PM, with the payment facility available until 03:00 PM on August 21.
During this period, choice filling and locking will take place from August 16 to 20, 2024, ending at 11:55 PM on August 20. Choice locking will specifically be available from 04:00 PM to 11:55 PM on August 20.
The seat allotment process will occur over two days, from August 21 to 22, 2024, with the results announced on August 23. Following the results, the reporting and joining period will span six days, from August 24 to 29, 2024.

NEET UG Counselling Process 2024:
The NEET UG counselling, 2024 conducted by MCC, includes three main rounds followed by a stray vacancy round for the All India Quota (AIQ) online counselling.
MCC will make the allotment based on the merits and preferences of the candidates. This process will commence once the National Testing Agency (NTA) provides the list and data of qualified candidates

Required Documents for NEET Counselling 2024:
Candidates must have the following documents ready for the NEET Counselling 2024:
- Caste certificate (if applicable)
- NEET UG 2024 Result/Rank Letter issued by NTA
- Hall Ticket issued by NTA
- Date of Birth Certificate
- Class 10th Certificate
- Class 12th Certificate
- Class 12th Marksheet
- Passport-size Photographs (same as affixed on the application form)
- Identity Proof (Aadhar/PAN/Driving Licence/Passport)
Reservation Policy for NEET Counselling 2024:
According to the NEET UG 2024 Information Bulletin, the Reservation Policy of the Central Government for All India Quota seats (Govt./Govt. aided/National Institutes/Central Universities) is as follows:
- SC: 15%
- ST: 7.5%
- PwBD: 5% Horizontal Reservation
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 27% Only in National Institutes and Central Universities
- EWS: 10% Only in National Institutes and Central Universities (who satisfy the conditions given in OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II dated January 17, 2019, issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment)
NEET Counselling for AYUSH Courses:
An All India Merit List of qualified candidates will be prepared based on the All India Rank (AIR) in the NEET UG 2024 Merit List.
Candidates will be admitted to Undergraduate Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy Courses (ASU & H Courses) from this list, adhering to the existing reservation policy.
